First FPV Competition

So Dan said there was an FPV race in Knox field held by Melbourne Multirotor Racing Club.  It was being held at Lewis park so I thought I'd make an effort to attend.  I packed my QX-70 and all of my gear in the car and arranged to meet both Jase and Rob there.  Dan might rock up and we could go fly after that.

I actually managed to get a leave pass from my wife for the afternoon so I'm going to make the most of it.

I've never been to an event like this before.  I had no idea what to expect.  The setup seemed pretty cool.  Huge flags to fly around, arched gates to fly through or over.  A widescreen TV hooked into the VTX of the 4 pilots in a split-screen that reminded me of playing 4 player Mario Kart on the Nintendo 64.

A barbecue cooking in the background and some racing going on.  It was good.  The three of us had a wander around and looked at the gear being used.  I think just about everyone had the Fat Sharks on.

After a few races we went to our own spot and had a fly.  Both Jase and Rob took their Eachine Racer 250 for a few laps.  It was good to watch.  I had a quick go with the QX70 but it couldn't cope with the wind.

Rob recorded a chase with Jase.  I also recorded some video of Jase at the same time.  I might upload it later.

I needed a "big boy" drone, I need to get my hands on one and get in on the action.  C'mon BangGood, get the Wizard back in stock for me!
