Giving away 1/10 Racing.... again.

It is off topic, but there might be people interested.

So I've decided to stop racing my RC Car.  The format is changing next year, apparently it's what the other participants in the F1 class want.  Not sure who that is of course as Rob, Luke and Daniel are all fans of the 2 x 8 minute races we currently run.  We get to leave at about 9pm.  Instead they going to make it 4 x 4 minute races so it will be 10:30pm when we finish.  As the 4 of us are the actual racers that turn up each week, I wonder how long they'll be racing the F1 class there.

Anyways, my F1 car is the Tamiya F104-X1.  I upgraded to this from the F104 (which I still have).  I think I've always come 2nd or 3rd overall in championships with this car.

My other car is the Tamiya TA06 which is setup for the Vintage Touring Class (VTC).  I haven't raced in this class for a while, and the TA06 is more stable and less sloppy than my old VTC Chassis, the Tamiya TA04-TRF

The TA-04 itself a vintage car that I drove to Stock (27 turn) Championship victory back in 2003.  I also came 2nd with that car in the first VTC championship run at the club (when it was still a demonstration class).

All up I still have 5 RC Cars as I bought a TA04-R second hand for spares should I need them for the TRF as parts were becoming expensive and hard to come by.

I have stopped racing before, back in 2005 it probably was.  I needed new batteries and at the time the NiMH batteries were at least $90 a pop.  I needed to replace the 3 i used weekly.  I didn't want to spend another $300 on batteries so I gave the game away.

A few years later brushless motors and Lipo batteries had been normalised and approved for racing.  The ability to have 1 $70 battery that could be topped up between races, and a new $30 charger made 3 or 4 of us come back and start racing again.  the 540 class was still using the 540 silver can as "blinky" mode hadn't been approved yet.  When they became normal we upgraded our old ESC and Motor for the new brushless technology.

While both myself and Rob stayed at it for another 6 or so years, the other 3 or 4 of us had already dropped off.  I think we're once again calling it for racing the 1/10 cars.

There will probably be a collective cheer from most of the club members as the 2 smart arses have stopped racing.
